Gross Negligence of a Business

About This Case

We were hired by a young man that was seriously burned in a propane tank explosion at a restaurant in Mount Pleasant. The restaurant was not yet open, and our client had been hired as a waiter. The business owner “suggested” the wait staff help in the upfit of a propane tank. The entire operation was poorly run, as the owner tried to save money at every turn. It was a dangerous situation.

Our client was severely burned when an outdoor fire feature malfunctioned on the patio, causing an explosion. He was rushed to the burn unit and endured months of painful medical treatments. He needed our help.

We retained the best engineering and medical experts and filed a claim against the restaurant owner and the contractors that were involved in creating the dangerous condition. There were legal hurdles involved as the defendants tried to claim it was a worker’s compensation matter (which would have meant far less money to the client).  We were able to overcome these obstacles and were able to enter into a multi-million-dollar settlement.
